Hello, I offer you this very beautiful sculpture by Théodore-Joseph-Napoléon Jacques, known as Napoléon Jacques, born May 12, 1804 in Paris and died March 28, 18762, French sculptor, strong reputation on the antiques market. Beautiful gilded bronze sculpture representing a fish merchant, very good quality, beautiful size, beautiful gilding. Napoléon Jacques is the student of Pierre Cartellier. He won the second Prix de Rome in 1828. Little is known about his artistic activity except that he worked for 25 years, between 1833 and 1858, in Russia and mainly in Saint Petersburg. He is the author of the bronze monument of Tsar Peter the Great in Kronstadt, dated 1842. He also created numerous small bronze figures of popular trades, such as The Blacksmith, The Carpenter. Returning to France, he obtained a medal of honor at the Salon of French Artists of 1861. He is the author of the bas-relief adorning his mother's grave, in the Père-Lachaise cemetery (27th division), representing a young mourner draped in the antique style. The artist is also buried there.
