"Superb Sculpture Venus In The Bath By Dal Torrione"
Stunning vintage Italian sculpture or statue of Venus in limestone. The original sculpture was created between 1501 and 1504. This sculpture has been copied in every century since then. Our example dates from the mid-20th century. Finely detailed. The artist Lorenzo dal Torrione had his Studio in the Italian town of Pietrasanta, near Pisa. Since 1952, dal Torrione has been active as a sculptor. Previously he studied with the famous Urbano Buratti. His artistic career began with the creation of clay models of sacred figures, and he also devoted himself to funerary art. Since 1966 he has worked in his own Studio. From the 1970s, he changed the subject of sculpture and created more and more classical-style statues in alabaster, limestone and marble. Lorenzo Dal Torrione received further orders from bronze foundries in Pietrasanta, for which he created models and molds. Added to this are various religious orders from other European countries. The cooperation with the sculptor Sirio Navari also proved to be very fruitful artistically. (Research and text: art historian Jens J. Reinke, MA)
