Empire Period: Superb Pocket Knife With Two Blades In Mother-of-pearl, Silver And Steel. 18th - 19th Century

Rare two-blade pocket knife from the Consulate or Empire Period.

The handle plates are made of mother-of-pearl, decorated on each side with a Swiss shield typical of the Empire style. The bolsters as well as the rivet washers are also in silver.

The knife has two opposing sheepsfoot blades. One is steel, the other is silver.

The silver blade is hallmarked:
. Master's mark to identify: IM (?) with two points


Superb little knife, of very good quality, made with precious materials. The mother-of-pearl is superb, with beautiful colored reflections. It is rare to find knives of this type made during this post-revolutionary period.
