Object description :

"Calderon Charles Clément "boat At Anchor In The Lagoon""
Charles Clément CALDERON, student of CABANEL. A landscape painter above all, like many landscape painters of his time, was particularly inspired by Venice. He painted the same views in situ at different times of the day. These renderings of lights as well as the meticulousness of these representations are snapshots of daily life on the lagoon and in the canals. He participated in the colonial exhibition of 1906, the year of his death. Signed lower right, Calderon sale stamp on the back of the mahogany panel, no cracks, no repainting or restoration.
