Georgette Gielen (Liège 1930- Brussels 2015)
Belgian painter. Artistic studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Liège and then followed courses at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp with Opsomer and Anna Zarina. Goes to live in Congo with her husband assigned to the service of the UMHK (Union Minière du Haut Katanga). It was during these years that she painted numerous Congolese scenes, landscapes, and factories of the mining union. Returning from Congo following the events, she settled with her family in Woluwé Saint Pierre where she would end her days.
