Object description :

"Large Ziata, 19th Cty Moroccan Ceramic Jug Fromtamgrout Area "
Very large late 19th century Ziata, ceramic jug from South of Morocco,
The powerful green color enamel as well as its shape are characteristic of productions from Tamgrout area workshops.

These ewers with an ovoid body streaked in relief with grooves, and a very wide neck, were used to receive fats (oils) found in a very wide variety of sizes, ranging from approximately 15 to 40cm high
2 circular decorative lines of small circles separated by a twisted line on the top of the body of the ewer. This twisted line is again repeated under the collar and vertically on the side of the handle, creating a decorative unity.

Condition: note some visible chips and gaps on the reverse of the rim. These are nevertheless popular and utilitarian ceramics, and their daily use is fully part of their history.

Very nice shiny cover and very powerful and decorative green color.
