Paul-françois-marie Urtin (1874 - 1962), Oil On Canvas, Interior In The Louis XV Style Salon

This beautiful oil on canvas, signed lower right by Paul Urtin, represents the interior of a Louis XV style living room, with in its center a delightful inlaid table with curved legs on which rests a bouquet of flowers in its vase crystal as well as a book. In the background are a chest of drawers, a screen with a console in front and an armchair on each side. The decoration is completed with paintings, frames and other trinkets, and a carpet on the floor adds a touch of comfort to this whole scene. Paul Urtin is a French painter who studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the studio of Gustave Moreau. He quickly became appreciated for paintings of various genres such as landscapes or portraits, but also studies of refined and intimate interiors, a genre in which he excelled.
