A ceremonial table with a gilded and patinated cast-iron structure, later made after a model by Edgar Brandt. Oval bowl-shaped top with Portor marble slab and gadrooned surround. Base composed of eight scrolled consoles at the head and foot, with double flat bands and grooved loops, adorned in their centers with gilded triangular motifs, mounted in finials. Oval base with plain flat wrought-iron band.
Signed in four places with the hallmark GRE DAN.
History: this is a North American remake of a six-legged console table similar to this one, designed by Edgar Brandt for the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Art Décoratifs et Industriels Moderne in Paris.
