Biography
Tommaso Barbi was a renowned Italian designer and artist, best known for his contribution to lighting, furniture and interior design. Born in Florence in 1944, he studied art and design in his native city, as well as in Rome and Milan. The main characteristic of Barbi’s work lies in the use of high-quality materials such as brass, bronze and crystal, and in his attention to detail and craftsmanship. He is particularly renowned for creating elegant and refined lighting fixtures, often characterized by organic and geometric shapes. Throughout his career, Barbi has had the opportunity to work with prestigious customers, from luxury brands to private clients, in Europe, the United States and Asia. He also worked closely with the leading architects and interior designers of his time, including Renzo Mongiardino and Peter Marino. As well as being a successful designer, Barbi also practiced ceramics and sculpture, exhibiting his work in galleries across Italy and Europe. He passed away in 2015.
