Reliquary Painting – Virgin With 19 Relics Of Saintes - 19th Century

Our reliquary and its rich paperwork assembly is very elaborate. It is in good condition and to the Glory of the Virgin, the Immaculate Conception. Enthroned on an altar, her praying statuette is surrounded by two white doves and lilies, as an emblem of innocence and pure love. The relics of the Virgin, here under the name of Our Lady of Lourdes, cover our subject. Eighteen other relics surround it.
The whole is delimited by two columns. It is a reliquary dedicated to femininity, because the relics presented are exclusively relics of Saints. Saint Madeleine, Saint Faustine, Victoire, Barbe, Françoise, Flavie, Juconde, Julienne, Germaine, Rose, Quiterie, Valérie, Eulalie, Sophie, Colombe, Constance, Agnès, and finally Saint Thérèse... thus remind us of their glorious martyrs , the strength of Christian commitment.
