Hourteliou, after François Gédéon Reverdin (Geneva, 1772 - Geneva, 1828), student of Jacques Louis David.
French Neoclassical School from the beginning of the 19th century.
Wildlife Hunter. From Villa Albani.
Drawing in black pencil, stumping and highlighting on strong beige-tinted paper.
Signed and titled in the lower lower margin.
Pen inscription “Made by Hourteliou. April 27, 1807. According to Mr. Reverdin. Student of David. Wildlife hunter. From Villa Albani »
H. 74 x 52.5 cm

Good general condition. Tears in the margins in the lower left corner, upper left and right corners. A few spots in passing light do not interfere with the readability and integrity of the drawing. Median fold of the paper.
Modern frame under glass with mat.
Dimensions with frame: 101 x 71 cm (Old period framing possible on estimate) Healthy work, offering a variety of interesting treatments: shadows cast on the muscles of the Faun, the rabbit stretched by it and the dog. The design offers an interesting gradient between the strong lines, the highlights supported by black stone and the attenuated background sometimes left in reserve.
