There is a drawing by the artist on the back of the wood. Pere Borrell del Caso (1835-1910) is known for his famous painting "Fleeing Criticism" from 1874, a magnificent example of trompe l'oeil. He was a painter of portraits, which constituted the majority of his commissions, and of religious scenes for various churches in Barcelona and Girona. As a master, he influenced the realism of famous painters such as Ricard Canals, Xavier Nogués and Josep Maria Sert.
