"Bronze Mother And Son In Africa"
Small black bronze group representing an African mother and son walking holding hands. The mother is dressed in a loincloth with golden patterns; she holds a jug in one hand and a large palm leaf fan in the other to shelter herself from the sun. She is adorned with golden jewelry: necklace, bracelet on each arm and ankles, earrings. The child also wears a loincloth with the same patterns as his mother as well as a large hat and holds a stick in his hand. The bronze rests on an irregularly shaped ivory base. Rare and charming bronze from the 1930s, very well made. H: 7cm 5.5 X 4.5cm Good condition.
