17th century Aubusson tapestry, with large figures, wool and silk with original border decorated with quivers, flowers and suns. King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. The meeting between the Queen of Sheba and Solomon, King of Israel, in his palace in Jerusalem, is one of the best-known episodes. King Solomon, renowned for his wealth and power, receives a visit with great pomp, from the fabulously beautiful and fabulously rich Queen of Sheba, at the head of an immense caravan filled with precious products (gold, precious stones and herbs) which she offers to King Solomon.
