"Walnut Daybed Upholstered In Silk, Louis VI Style, Late 19th Century"
This daybed in carved walnut and very refined silks bears witness to the soothing mood that a holiday in Saint Cast in Brittany can provide. It will have seen 3 generations of summer visitors pass through, from 1906 to 1968, the date on which the Hôtel des Roches Sonnantes closed its doors to the public. This piece shows completely acceptable wear, the carved walnut structure is in perfect condition. On the other hand, the liveliness of the silks decorated with pomegranate flowers and birds of paradise was somewhat attenuated by the radiation. All the same, the box spring, the mattress, the two bolsters are dense and without notable alteration, which confirms the very high quality of the furniture work. The daybed can be dismantled into four parts.
