TITANIC DISASTER: Hearings before a Subcommittee of the Committee on Commerce United States Senate; directing the Committee on Commerce to investigate the causes leading to the wreck of the White Star Liner "Titanic", Washington, Government Printing Office, 1912. Fort-in 8, in half-bound with black morocco corners (restored), back to nerves, blue marbled edge, with dedication from Frank G. Duffy to Mr. George Rheims Nov. 18. 1912. ATTACHED: Photographic portrait with dedication: "To my dear friend George Rheims who saved my life on the night of the disaster of the Titanic. April 15, 1912. Lima, Peru. June 21, 1912. Peter Dennis DALY" George Rheims is noted as a first class passenger, saved. (p.46 of Report 806). George Rheims (1879-1963) is a Franco-American businessman, a passenger on the Titanic shortly after his marriage. He retired to Biarritz in the 1950s. George Rheims, surviving in the boat A, saved the life of Mr Peter Dennis Daly (1860-1932) who sent him the autographed photo portrait.
