Rare Commode-critoire, Boat Officer, England – 1st Part 19th flag

Object description :

"Rare Commode-critoire, Boat Officer, England – 1st Part 19th"
Exceptional Marine furniture with the particularity of combining storage and writing space. This furniture is made up of two distinct elements: The base element has 3 spacious drawers of different heights. Their facade has a mahogany burr finish, two recessed brass handles (the plates of which have concave angles) and a key with original lock in working order. A threaded entry highlights the passage of the key. The interior of these drawers is equipped with two panels and a reinforcing crosspiece to prevent sagging. This facade is reinforced at the corners by brass straps. The sides are made of a single panel. The wall unit has two small drawers in the center with burl mahogany fronts, recessed handles, original working keys and locks and mesh entry. On the right, a large drawer (whose burl mahogany front is surrounded by a wide miter-cut strip with interior molding) conceals a small writing space which is revealed by pressing two push buttons. We discover green leather with cold stamp stickers and gold stickers attached. Furthermore, the back of this space has identical lockers accompanied by two drawers and a door with a brass handle, key and original lock in working order. To the left of this tall element, we observe a part identical in external appearance to the right part. There is a sliding box with a top lined with leather with 2 cold stickers and 2 gold stickers. The mahogany surround can be lifted using a brass ring in its recessed brass frame. Below we discover a large storage space. Finally, the top of this piece of furniture is made up of a strip of mahogany, angles decorated with recessed brass elements in a concave shape and a large green sheepskin leather (installed by us) in 3 elements, also equipped with cold stamps and golden stamps. This piece of furniture having benefited from a beautiful patina will delight you with its manufacturing quality, its warm color and its originality. ******** Period: 1st part 19th Century Excellent condition inside and out after restoration in our workshop.
