A Directoire Psyche, 18th Century
Toilet mirror with screen* with lion's paws in mahogany inlaid with copper from the Louis XVI period, announcing the Directoire style.
Attributed to Guillaume Beneman, (1750-1811) received his master on September 3, 1785.
*described as such in the 1807 inventory of the Palace of Fontainebleau, the name psyché would only be used at the end of the Empire. The Fontainebleau Palace retains an identical psyche.
Condition report: Restored in our workshop in September 2023, perfect condition. Evening of the original parquet flooring
