Cabriolet Shepherdess Stamped N.t Porrot From The 18th Century

Large molded beech armchair stamped N.T Porrot for Noël-Toussaint Porrot, received Master in Paris on July 22, 1761.
Note the whiplash armrests, the sculpted plant decoration on the convertible backrest and on the moving and deeply molded belt.
The base has a pretty arch also topped with a floral pattern.
The generous proportions ensure comfort, while the quality of execution gives this seat elegance and aesthetics.

Noël-Toussaint Porrot (received Master on July 22, 1761)
A furniture carpenter, Noël-Toussaint Porrot became a master in Paris in 1761. He settled on rue du Pont-aux-choux where he worked for more than twenty-five years. He specializes in seats and is particularly fond of small Louis XV style convertible armchairs. He also produced Louis XVI seats, in various shapes. He notably called on the gilder Desfontaines to embellish his productions. All his furniture was well proportioned and skillfully carved.
Noël-Toussaint Porrot, who is mentioned for having sold works by several of his colleagues, also created the current seats for the Château de Montgeoffroy.
The Porrot stamp also appears on rare occasions on inlaid furniture. This may mean on the one hand that Noël-Toussaint Porrot only produced a few cabinet-making pieces of furniture or that the latter, as a merchant, put his stamp on the marquetry productions of his colleagues that he offered in stores.
