This lady is seated in a stylish armchair, and we can see behind her, a mirror and part of a chandelier with tassels.
This work is by a follower of William or Guillaume Hogarth.
We can see at the back of the frame on the wooden part, a stamp mentioning Horath in London.
HOGARTH, Guillaume
London 10.XI.1697-26.X.1764
British painter, not known to have used pastel, if we ignore Samuel Ireland's statement that he had the "original sketch... in colored pencils" of Hogarth's painting of The Benefice of Walker, hero of the Beggar. It is also worth noting that Hogarth recommended La Tour to Daniel Wray, according to his letters to Philp Yorke in 1749 (see La Tour chronology); Hogarth visited France in 1743 and 1748.
