Beautiful watercolors from the first half of the 19th Century. one represents fishing boats at sea with fortifications and the other fishermen with nets on the edge of a lake with a tower and buildings probably in Switzerland. They are fine and delicate, in good condition. Note however on one, a few small foxing. They are both perfectly framed. Dimensions of the watercolors alone at sight, 24.5 cm x 17.5 cm. With frames, 36 cm x 29 cm. Behind the navy an inscription in ink attributing them to Samuel Naef. Samuel Naef is a painter born in Geneva in 1778 and died in Lausanne in 1856. Switzerland. Listed as a painter of landscapes, portraits. Nephew and student of Jean Henri Naef. He continued his studies in Paris with Gérard and JL David and settled in Lausanne.
