Louis XV work, stamped DELORME


Louis XV period flat desk. Its scrolled belts open on the front with three drawers in rosewood on violet wood. Its back is decorated with three simulated drawers inlaid with rosewood and framed with violet wood. Keyholes, handles, side decorations and drawer separations with openwork gilded bronzes decorated with stylized acanthus leaves.

The sliding shelves on both sides are covered with gilded morocco and framed with violet wood.

This desk rests on four curved legs also in violet wood, chamfered on the inside and decorated with scraps and enveloping sabots in gilded bronze. Its top in brown leather gilded with small iron and surrounded by violet wood, is framed on three sides by a scrolled ingot mold in gilded bronze and molded in bec-de-corbin.

Son of François Delorme (1691-1768) originally named Faizelot, Adrien Delorme is a very renowned cabinetmaker of the 18th century thanks to his Far Eastern style marquetry and lacquerwork.
Although his career was long, he preferred the Louis
His activity ended in 1783 when he sold his furniture at an auction.
