Emile PUIFORCAT, Vegetable dish covered in solid silver with two handles, neck brace hallmarks and goldsmith hallmarks EP and a penknife. 19th century period. Weight 1040 Gr. Goldsmith hallmark: EP and a penknife. Master silversmith: Maison Puiforcat Created in 1820 by Emile Puiforcat, Joseph Marie Puiforcat and Baptiste Fuchs. Emile stamps his maker's mark in 1857 and remains unchanged over the years. It is located at 18 rue Chapon in Paris. The goldsmith died in 1883 but his hallmark was used until 1927. In 1902 Fuchs' son-in-law, Louis Victor Tabouret Puiforcat took over. In 1918 the famous Jean Puiforcat (1897-1945), son of Louis Victor Tabouret Puiforcat took over the family business. It is thanks to him that the House became famous. He is particularly famous during the Art Deco period and then in modern goldsmithing.
