Extremely rare and beautiful BAGA NIMBA male statue from Guinea Wood with a patina of use Handcrafted brass nails, string necklaces height 46cm In its original context, a male figure like this would have been paired with a female figure and possibly placed in a sanctuary for agricultural and human fertility. Male and female figures are called D'mba which refers to an ideal. Offerings were left to the spirits in the shrines at the feet of these statues.
