Baoule Ancestor Couple, Ivory Coast
Couple of female and male ancestors of ends, both hands resting on their stomachs. It is the representation of Asia Usu or "genius of the earth" used by the soothsayers. Old brown patina of use, showing traces of offerings and a sacrificial crust. Despite the lack of feet resulting from wear and tear, the couple proudly pose on their high quality bronze bases. Country BAOULE, Republic of Ivory Coast. Size 28.5cm and 26cm.
