Exceptional cat vase.
Saint Amand en Puisaye.
Height : 59 cm
The cat is modeled directly into the walls of the vase.
This is both a sculptor's and ceramist's feat.
This vase is in excellent condition. It is not signed and it is significant of the work of this artist.
Thomas Cartier, renowned animal sculptor, settled in Saint Anand en Puisaye in 1918, he settled in the old Pichard pottery belonging to Clément Maubrou. He remained there until 1920. Lucien Arnaud then takes his place. (Information taken from the excellent site "Grès de Puisaye").
