Trinity In Carved Wood In The Round, Germany, Circa 1550
Trinity in sculpted and polychromed wood, in the round, the back partially hollowed out It is represented here as a "Throne of Grace". In this original formula, probably born in France in the 12th century, God the Father holds his Son before him. From the 13th century, the body of the Son rests on the knees of the Father in a disposition inspired by the Pietàs.
