View of fields with sheep and a shepherd and a child by Hippolyte Sebron. The painting is signed lower right and sold unframed. A few very small lacks of paint are visible in the photographs. Hyppolite Sebron was born in Caudebec-en-Caux in 1801. After studying at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he specialized in landscape, traveling throughout France and multiplying views of church interiors. His meeting with Louis Daguerre, while he was working on sets for the Paris Opera, led him to Diorama, a very fashionable attraction before the invention of cinema. He becomes the performer of Louis Daguerre, who also trains him in photography. Deciding to emancipate himself, he made a long trip to America, where he remained for 6 years, notably bringing back a view of Niagara Falls or Broadway Avenue in New York under the snow. He died in Paris in 1879.
