"Framed Engraving: View And Perspective Of The Salon De La Ménagerie, Edited By Jean Circa XVIII Th"
Enhanced engraving from the 18th century representing the back of King Louis XIV's menagerie, which has now disappeared. Rare Version engraved and edited by Jean at 32 rue de Beauvais in Paris. This depiction of Esnault and Rapilly was usually engraved by JF Daumont. Largely destroyed after the French Revolution, the Menagerie was finally razed in 1902. Today, only meager vestiges remain. Beautiful frame in burl decorated with a master key with golden bevel. Very fresh colors for an 18th century work. Very good general condition of the paper to note a tiny tear in the margin on the right. Dimensions Frame 0.74 x 0.57. Engraving 0.54 x 0.38 cms
