He approached painting at a very young age and attended the Accademia Albertina in Turin, having Cesare Maggi, Guido Mosca and Antonio Zucconi as his teachers. In 1946, when he was only fifteen years old, he began exhibiting at the Società Promotrice in Turin; his work aroused immediate interest, so much so that it was purchased by the Society itself. Moving away from the 19th-century Piedmontese landscape tradition, he approached the most modern trends, directing his painting towards intense colours and vital impulses in the interpretation of the natural datum. He took part in major national and international exhibitions. They include: the Quadriennale d'Arte Moderna in Turin in 1947; the Biennale d'Arte Sacra in Novara in 1953; the Biennale Nazionale in Milan and the Premio Suzzara in 1954; the Esposizione della Pittura Italiana in Zurich; the Premio Delleani in 1959. He had numerous personal exhibitions in Italy: Milan (Galleria Gussoni and Galleria Sant'Ambrogio); Biella (Galleria Garabello and Circolo degli Artisti); Florence (Galleria Spinetti) and abroad: New York (Norval galleries); Tende, France (Galleria Le Temps Retrouvé).
In 1969 he was awarded the Remo d'Oro at the Concorso Nazionale Città di Desenzano del Garda (Brescia).
