Alexandre Falguière (1831-1900) - Bust Of Diana The Huntress In Bronze
Important bronze bust of Diane Chasseresse with its beautiful original brown patina, it is signed A. Falguière on the shoulder and bears the foundry stamp Thiebaut Frères Paris on the back, it rests on a granite base. Very good state. Alexandre FALGUIERE (1831-1900) born in Toulouse, he learned drawing in Paris with Carrier-Belleuse and entered the school of fine arts in 1854 in François Jouffroy's studio. He began at the salon in 1857 and won the Prix de Rome in 1859 with Mézence wounded. He then left for five years at the French Academy in Rome and sent several of his works to the Salon, in 1868 he was awarded the medal of honor with his Tarcicius.
