Object description :

"Pair Of Venetian Reliquary Monstrance - Eighteenth"
Fortunati and Grati are partners in their misfortune. Here their names in Latin are joined and thus offer us a beautiful intention: "Happy and grateful".
In a niche with a red background, the first indeed receives an important bagged relic of Saint Fortunati (Saint Fortunatus) martyr, the second of large dimensions also, protects the bones of Saint Grati (Saint Gratian) martyr.

Our pair of reliquary monstrances is from the 18th century. Scalloped in gilded wood and Venetian lacquer, it is adorned with a decoration of flowers, foliage and shells and is topped with a cross.
On the back are five - like the number of Christ's wounds - wax seals on each reliquary, with the arms of Cardinal Antonio Domenico GAMBERINI (1760 -1841).
These reliquaries being older, it is a reuse probably on order of the said cardinal. Height: 60 cm, 30 cm wide and 14 deep.

Good condition but note small accidents and restorations to the feet.
