"Napoleon III Desk, In Boulle Marquetry"
Bonheur du jour desk from the Napoleon III period, in Boulle marquetry. Upper part called stepped, opening with 2 doors with medallions and 2 small drawers. Lower part opening with 1 frieze drawer, surmounted by a writing tablet. Boulle marquetry in cut brass on a background of red-tinted tortoiseshell and blackened pearwood veneer. Ornamentation of chiseled and gilded bronzes. Locks in good working order with 2 keys. Some gaps in the shell in the left front of the drawer, with very slight uplifts of the marquetry on the front of the medallions of the 2 top doors, as well as on the right top of the tablet above the drawer.
