This drawing is the study on tracing paper by Gustave Boulanger for his figure of a slave boy in the painting The Roman Slave Market which he exhibited at the Salon of 1886. If you look at Marie-Madeleine Aubrun's publication on Boulanger (1986) you will see that Boulanger made a drawing on tracing paper exactly like this for many of his important figures.
