An exceptionally rare Memento Mori needlework panel.

Flemish or German, early 17th century.

The embroidered panel measures 33 x 23cm, the later frame measures 46 x 36cm.

The vanitas still life is decorated with a skull upon a table, between a vase of flowers and a sand timer with the latin motto above ‘HODIE MIHI CRAS TIBI’ which translates as ‘TODAY ME, TOMORROW FOR YOU’.
