"Border In Painted Canvas Of The Indies - Compagnie Des Indes Period Louis XV"
Circa 1750 - 1770 India Coromandel coast for the Compagnie des Indes Rare border (274 cm) in painted cotton with Louis XV decoration and made on the Coromandel coast for the Compagnie des Indes. Decoration painted on very fine cotton canvas obtained by the skilful technique of mordanting then brushing. This border probably comes from a set for furniture made in the midst of Probihition in France or at the end of it after 1759. Drawing in imitation of Lyon evenings with decor of boxes loaded with roses and Dalhias, framed by wavy ribbons with braided knots. Very resistant fine fabric with a few needle holes, they show depigmentation and a slight yellowing in places (less present in real life than in the photos). Good general condition of color and preservation for the time. Dimensions: 274 cm long by 27 cm wide.
