"Bronze Barbedienne Military Courage"
Military Courage. Soldier wearing Italian style helmet and wearing armour. His back is covered with a lion's skin whose paws are tied on his chest. He holds a sword in his left hand. This is one of the figures from the tomb of General Lamorcière. The original plaster model is kept at the Museum of Fine Arts in Troyes, a gift from Paul Dubois in 1879. Exhibited at the 1876 Salon and engraved by Achille Jacquet, it appeared at the Paris Universal Exhibition Salon in 1889, Copenhagen in 1888, the Universal Exhibition in Chicago in 1893. The bronze cast by Barbedienne and which appeared at the Universal Exhibition of 1878 is that of the tomb of Nantes. Ferdinand Barbedienne proposed from 1884 bronze reductions in 6 different sizes (heights 105, 86, 68, 51, 39 and 28 cm) The bronze that I propose to you is part of it with its height of 51 cm It is in very good condition you just have to point out nuances of its original patina.
