Jean Marcel POUSSART Sedan (Ardennes), 1891 – 1972 Oil on canvas 19 x 25 cm (26.5 x 32.5 cm with the frame) Signed upper left "JM Poussart" Nice oval frame from the 19th century Jean Marcel Poussart is a painter from Sedan in the Ardennes. He held a workshop “La Roseraie Moulin à vent” there. He was a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris with the landscape painter Alfred-Louis Brunet-Debaines. Jean Marcel Poussart exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris in the 1930s, notably landscapes of the Ardennes. He is also recognized as a painter of the Vendée. And he also worked as an illustrator, for example for the Cosyn travel guides (Guide des Ardennes françaises or for the book Légendes ardennaises (1929). Our painting is a small bucolic landscape that exudes calm and romance, in its pretty setting. oval-shaped antique, signed at the top left on the small temple.
