Exceptional bronze representing La Défense du foyer (famous subject) by Émile BOISSEAU, a great French sculptor of the 19th century, signed around the edge of the terrace, with the original foundry stamp of the Paris Bronze Society and the numbers EV 2348. On the front is an original cartouche mentioning that this work was awarded a medal of honor at the Salon des Beaux Arts in Paris in 1884 where the artist exhibited since 1868. It is noted the exceptional quality of the original patina of this bronze as seen on Pictures . A marble version of our bronze was acquired by the city of Paris in 1884 and exhibited in the Square du Champ de Mars.
