La Belle Otero, Summer Alcazar - Pal
Artist: Pal
Carolina Otero, better known as La Belle Otero, was an exceptionally popular Spanish dancer in a variety of French performance venues around the turn of the century. Its beauty and fame were so great that it included Prince Albert I of Monaco, King Edward VII of England, the Duke of Westminster, the Russian Grand Dukes Peter and Nicholas, as well as the Italian writer Gabriel D' Annunzio among his lovers. Performances like this at the Alcazar d'Été showcased her Andalusian charms and maintained her infamy in French society. Although at her peak she would have amassed a fortune well over $25 million today, she died poor in Nice at the age of 96.
