Rare iron cattle brand with the Medici coat of arms. Italian, 17th century.
A Rare iron cattle brand decorated with the Medici family coat of arms.

Italian, 17th century

Measures 46 x 14 x 9cm.

The coat of arms appears to correspond with that of the great family of the Renaissance, the Medici’s.

The coat of arms is shown surmounted by a coronet, the initials ‘M T M’ surrounding its base.

The last images is of the Medici coat of arms at the Medici fortress in Grosseto, Tuscany. The fortress was acquired by Cosimo I de' Medici in the sixteenth century.
