Gilbert Méténier - Suite Of Two Glazed Stoneware Vases
Artist: Gilbert Méténier (1876-après 1940)
Suite of two polychrome enamelled stoneware vases, one oblong with a star neck and the second in the shape of an amphora.
Signed Gilbert Méténier, artist at the head of an art sandstone workshop, which he inherited from his father, between 1917 and 1940.
Beautiful pieces characteristic of the artist's creations.
For the record, it is said that the factory closed its doors when the Germans arrived on June 18 or 19, 1940. Gilbert Méténier allegedly destroyed all the molds "so that they would not fall into the hands of the occupant".
Very good condition, no restorations, no signs of wear
