Empire Consulate Period So-called Bonheur Du Jour Writing Desk, Mahogany & Ormolu
Elegant lady writing desk said bonheur du jour, mahogany veneer, mercury mirror, ormolu bronzes decoration (mercury gilt), lion claws shaped feet, white marble on top.
Empire production in the very fashionable Back from Egypt style, early 19th century circa 1800. Parisian production, shamrock-shaped lock, matt and shiny ormolu finish. Original leather inside.
In excellent condition. the old warnish has been cleaned. Ormolu is outstandingly fresh.Original mercury glass with a few stains. The drawer has its key.
