An Ancient gold and carnelian scarab ring.
Etruscan, 4th Century B.C.
The scarab is modelled naturalistically, carved on the underside in the globolo style with a goat, set in a gold mount and pierced by a gold wire wound around the top of each end of the shank, which appear to be modelled as stylised lion heads.
The scarab measures 10mm,
Ring size G 1/2,
Weighs 2.6 grams.
