"Minaudière" is not a common name for a certain kind of bag as everyone seems to think.
The jeweller Van Clef et Arpels, the exclusive owner of this brand, reminds us of this.
One consolation is that we are not the only ones to have been misled in this way, since a judgement has been handed down against the Larousse itself, which had presented the word minaudière as a common word belonging to the public domain. It is therefore permissible to minaudiate, to be a minaudier or minaudière ("They were very minaudières, all three of them the same, with ribbon bonnets"), but the "minaudière", the evening bag, can only be bought at Van Cleef and Arpels, Place Vendôme.
This minaudière was produced especially for the House of ASPREY in London.
