"Napoleon III Stool Sculpted Rope"
Pretty Rope Stool carved in Rosewood. The base joined by a spacer imitating the rope. This stool model was created by master upholsterer Fournier. A similar model was presented in 1867 at the Universal Exhibition. A similar golden stool is in the Château de Compiègne and is illustrated in Helena Hayward's "World Furniture", London, 1965, page 241, Pl 928 and in JM Moulin's "L'Ameublement du Palais de Compiègne pendant le Second Empire", Thé Connoisseur, December 1978, page 253.
