XIX E Century Charcoal Seal.

Coal seal, from the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century, in enamelled cast iron, in the Neo-Renaissance style. It is decorated with the Salamander of François I, a well-known symbol of the sovereign, engraved in stone at the Château de Chambord and the Château de Fontainebleau. According to legends, the Salamander hibernates in the stumps and wakes up when they are put to burn, hence its presence on this coal seal, from the LFB Merville Nord house (Franco-Belgian foundries), very good condition, can also be used as a reserve of kindling.
