Large Flat Office All Faces In Mahogany And Its Empire Style Armchair

Very nice set including a flat desk with side zippers on all sides and its matching armchair. The desk opens with nine drawers, three of which are in the belt. The tray and the pull tabs are sheathed in Empire green leather (used condition for the tray) The set was completely restored about thirty years ago , the varnish and the gilding of the bronzes are thus in very good fresh condition. Note a few minor shocks. This set is in the Empire style called "Return from Egypt" with, among other things, these busts of Egyptian women reminiscent of Napoleon Bonaparte's Egyptian campaigns. The quality of the bronzes and their fine carving make it a high quality set. Period late nineteenth century.
