Extremely rare bronze Monkey with coconut Bronze with nuanced brown patina Signed Alf Barye for Alfred Barye Exceptional expression of the animal Very fine carving Height 11cm Width 5cm Depth 8cm Alfred Barye was a pupil of his father, the sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye (1795-1875). His work includes animal bronzes as well as orientalist subjects. At the request of his father, he signs his works under the name of Barye "The son" or Alf Barye to differentiate him. He exhibited at the Salon from 1864 to 1882.
