A Roman plasma intaglio of Venus Victrix in a high carat gold ring.

The intaglio dates to the 1st century AD, the high carat gold ring is 19th century.

The intaglio measures 1.1 x 0.95cm.

Ring size M UK / 6.25 US.

A very similar intaglio of Venus Victrix, also carved from plasma can be found in; The Marlborough Gems by John Boardman, page 134, catalogue number 280.
It is catalogued as; Chesterfield; Bessborough, no. C35 (£12); Kagan/Neverov ii. fig. 8.14; Tassie, no. 6404.
Marlborough no. 124 (Spink; 7 gns.).
Plasma intaglio; 15 X 10.
Venus Victrix, naked but for dress around her legs, leaning on a pillar, holding a spear and helmet, with a shield before her, a dove on it. 
Behind her a jug with three ears of corn in it. Ground line.
